About the Author
Margaret Fitzpatrick has over twenty years of experience in critical care nursing; first as an ICU and Trauma Nurse Specialist and now as a Nurse Anesthetist. She received her Master’s degree in Science from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Margaret has spent her career as a Nurse Anesthetist in community hospitals serving primarily inner-city populations in and around Chicago.
Coming from a large family with 15 siblings, Margaret has had years of experience helping many family members and friends navigate the healthcare system at all stages of life. She is dedicated to empowering patients and their family members with the knowledge that the best medical care is based on individualized goals set by the patient. Her prior book, What to Ask the Doc: The Questions to Ask to Get the Answers You Need, published in 2003 by RN Interactive Publishing, was co-authored by Linda Louis, R.N., and Daryl Lee, R.N.
Margaret and her husband, Jim McLaughlin, live south of Chicago, sharing the home of their border collie, Connie.
